Although sugar glutinous fishworms are not a threat to us, they can be a nuisance. See where they most often appear and how to get rid of them.

The sugar glider, otherwise known as the silverfish, likes warm and humid places, which is why it usually appears in bathrooms and nooks in the kitchen. It feeds on the remains of products containing sugar, as well as paper, wallpaper, mold and the remains of other insects. Silverfish do not transmit diseases like cockroaches, but the presence of any insect causes discomfort

Sugar glider fish – why does it appear?

Sugar glider fish can appear anywhere there is a lack of fresh air and persistent moisture. Encouraging places for them are, for example, wet floorcloths and mops left lying around for long periods of time, cracks in bathroom tiles and kitchen cupboards where food crumbs remain.

How do I get rid of the sugar fish?

Pungent odors are an effective deterrent for the sugar loach. Using cinnamon, ginkgo, rosemary or sweet cress you can create a composition of plants which will help you get rid of the nuisance insects.

Surfaces that are infested with fishworms can be sprayed with a mixture of lemon juice and lavender oil – these strong scents will also deter the insects.

To get rid of fishworms, you can also make a homemade trap. Grease a piece of cardboard with honey and leave it in the kitchen or bathroom overnight. The sweet, sticky bait will attract the insects and will not let them escape

How to prevent the appearance of sugar fish?

After the removal of insects, first of all, you need to do a general cleanup, get rid of all lingering food scraps and crumbs from the cabinets, and do not leave damp, undried cloths and mops in the corners of the floors.
