Whether you’re raking up autumn leaves or freshly cut grass, you need a rake. Without them, your garden will be a mess. Despite appearances, choosing a rake is not so easy! Of course, there are classic, universal models on the market that should work for everything. They consist of a handle (usually wooden) and a metal comb

You can also find models for specific tasks in garden hardware stores. The leaf rake, for example, has much more flexible teeth and is much lighter than a traditional rake. There are also field rakes for raking hay and lawn rakes that are ideal for clearing thick, beautiful grass without tearing it up

Take control of your garden

All shrubs and hedges in your garden need to be trimmed regularly. What tool you buy for this will often determine the state of your garden. Why? Dull or too small pruning shears can simply tear branches instead of trimming them perfectly

You can also easily buy pruning tools that need to be plugged in. This is especially useful if you have a lot of trees or a tall hedge that needs constant care. Your garden equipment should definitely include several types and sizes of pruning shears. You can’t do without a small one for thin twigs and small shrubs that only need aesthetic trimming

A lawnmower is one of the most basic and versatile garden tools. So it doesn’t matter whether you have a garden for leisure purposes only, grow vegetables and fruit or have flowerbeds full of gorgeous flowers. Sooner or later there will come a time when you have to cut the grass. That’s why it makes sense to invest in a good quality lawnmower

Types of lawn mowers for the garden:

• reel mower – will be perfect for mowing small yet level areas. It’s a scissor-like mechanism that cuts the grass evenly and the grass falls into a basket;
• rotary mower – best to get one if you have a lot of green space
• a petrol lawnmower – the most popular, it’s good for large and uneven areas. It has the most power.

Small tool, big potential

Anyone who has worked in the garden knows very well what a spade is used for. This small device allows us to perform a huge number of gardening jobs. It will help you dig up the ground, make seed holes easier, use it to duplicate plants or loosen soil

A spade is not the same as a spade – literally! There is a huge range of different sizes in the stores, from tiny spades to long spades. However, it is important to check whether the spade you are buying will sit well in your hand.
